Our Story
Family. Faith. Durban.
Greg & Michelle Hay
We live in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal — a city we love deeply. We’re a family shaped by faith, and that faith has always expressed itself outward: in our church, in the people around us, and in the work we do every day.
Our church community is central to who we are. It’s where we’ve found friendship, challenge, and belonging. It’s also where we’ve learned that serving others isn’t a duty — it’s one of the most genuinely fulfilling things a person can do.
Why “Sarepta”?
Sarepta is the Greek form of Zarephath — a small town on the Mediterranean coast, mentioned in 1 Kings 17. It’s where Elijah was sent during a famine, to be cared for by a widow who barely had enough for herself. She gave what little she had in faith — and found that it never ran out.
That image has stayed with us. Provision in unlikely places. Faithfulness even when the resources feel small. The quiet miracle of generosity. We named this space after that place because it captures something real about our journey.
Giving back
Over the years, we’ve tried to make giving a reflex rather than an afterthought. That looks like being present in our church, supporting people in our network who are doing real work in the community, and using our skills and resources in ways that count. We don’t always get it right. But we keep showing up.
