William Law (1686-1761) wrote: “Self is the whole evil of fallen nature. It is the very life of sin; the works of the devil are all wrought in self; it is his peculiar workhouse. All self-effort to overcome is vanity. […]
To have an encounter with Jesus Christ is to meet one’s ultimate destiny. When radical events occur on planet earth, creating apocalyptic fear, you can honestly tell your friends, “I know about the end of world. For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword… – Hebrews 4: 12 GO to scripture both for life and encouragement. It cuts through doubts, fears and confusion with a message for all times. It inspires and it guides like a searchlight in the dark. The word of God is unchanging and once you are at one with it, it will raise you up always when you are down; it will smooth the rough not just now but forever. It tells you God will write His law in your heart (Psalm 37). You may stumble but if you live in His word it will teach you, sustain you and cut a path through life from which you will never slip. Through the word comes believing and through believing in Jesus comes righteousness – right-standing in the eyes of God the Father forever.
THIS week we offer inspiration from an excerpt from Charles Spurgeon: “If we walk before the Lord in integrity, we shall do more to bless our descendants than if we bequeathed them large estates.…a righteous father leaves his children his prayers and the blessing of a prayer-hearing God, and these make our children to be favoured among the sons of men… “If they see the truth of our religion proved by our lives, it may be that they will believe in Jesus for themselves. Lord, fulfil this word in my household.” We say Amen.
